Sometimes I direct a few asanas, other times it's simply self-directed. Sometimes someone asks me if we can do a little stretching, in which case we spend about 15 minutes in standing poses, mostly breathing, relaxing shoulders and neck.
Last night, we did a little stretching on our own, since I've been experiencing vertigo and wanted to be still.
K did a few down dogs, S decided to meditate in Savasana, T didn't really know what to make of it, since this was only his 2nd sit with us.
But I've noticed that the stretching before sitting really helps, really focuses energy and breath, switches gears from the outside world to the inside world, so to speak.
Last night was no exception. We went over 20 minutes in our sit, and just as I was reaching my stride with the sit, it was time to end! Again, I watched the others as they stretched. Gentle twisting, forward bends, straightening out legs, stretching out the back of the neck and shoulders.
Standing finally is like entering the outside world, sometimes with a little reluctance!
