We started in Tadasana and did a flow of bending the knees, raising the arms in Upward Salute, lowering the hands into Namaste, then extending palms and arms out, then swinging arms down beside the knees, behind our backs, straightening up and raising arms back into Upward Salute.
This was a flow where I really wanted Abigail to focus on allowing the breath to lead the movement, and after a while I think she was able to co-ordinate the two.
We then went into Tree. She used the wall, which was smart. From there we folded down to our knees and did a flow of Cat/Cow/Puppy Stretch. I encouraged her to feel the breath in the back of the ribcage. Came up into Garland Pose, and Namaste.
Came to sit on our mats in Bound Angle and did a simple Seated Spinal Twist on each side, with Forward Bend between sides. Then did a series of Bridges, first an inverted Table Top.
Straightened our legs into Staff Pose for a moment, then shook out the legs, patting up and down the thighs.
We then rolled down to lie on our backs, and did a series of Bridges. Between Bridges we did Knees to Chest and rocked. Did a few rounds of Knee to opposite Elbow, but this was tough for her.
On our backs, put our hands beneath our heads as support and used thumbs to massage the neck and lower skull area. Opened out elbows to floor and breathed deeply into the upper chest.
Then did Thread the Needle, with Knees to Chest pose and rocking between sides.
Finally, Savasana.
What I missed doing were a few side bends. I could sense that Abigail had low energy, though she would never come out and say that.
She commented that she could finally feel her spine on the floor, coming down from Bridge, and she could also feel the movement of her breath in her back. These were new discoveries, and I was glad she made them!
