As it turned out, an hour was too long....her fitness trainer was waiting for her in the center after we finished, even though she had said she wouldn't be working with him until next week.....confussion!
I felt badly to be horning in on her fitness trainer's time, but it was unintentional.
I wanted to do something different with Abigail, but I really need to be mindful of her age, which is still unmentioned.
However, she's old!
We started in the Rock, and did a flow of Rock to Child's Pose to Garland Pose to Puppy stretch. This was a nice flow, and I really enjoyed it.
We then curled up into Hero's Pose for as long as I thought she could handle it--turns out, that was a challenge.
Namaste.
From here, I directed her into Gate Pose, then into a deeper stretch, with the opposite arm coming up along the head. We relaxed into Garland Pose, then back into Hero. Stretched into Gate Pose on the other side.
Back into Hero.
Namaste.
Into Table Top, where we then went into a flow of Cat Bows, Sunbird on both sides, then into Puppy Stretch. Repeated 3 times, then came up to Downward Dog.
I wanted to come into a Plank, then up to Cobra, but I directed Abigail to do a modified Plank with knees on the floor, then laying flat on her tummy before directing her into a Cobra. I realize now a Dolphin would have been a better beginning to this. Cobra was really tough for her--there's very little arch in her back.
We rested on our tummies for a few good, long breaths, hands out our sides, palms up.
Then we did a few Superman Poses, alternating arm/leg, almost exactly like Sunbird, except in supine position. Again, this was tough too.
After two on each side, we lay on our sides, and curled up into a Supine Rock of sorts for a break.
On our backs, we did a flow of Bridge Poses, Knees to Chest, Legs and Arms to ceiling and rotating at the ankles/ wrists, floating legs down, then back into Bridge.
Knees to Chest, we rocked, then I directed her in Happy Baby, then into Happy Bug!
Leg the feet remain together and brought them into Bound Angle on the floor, opening the hips. Inhaled the arms across the floor and up beside the ears, up to the ceiling, palms together, lowering, bringing lower arms together in front of the face, then into Namaste.
Finally relaxed into Savasana.
I really liked this flow, and even though I felt there were things that were too difficult for Abigail, I also wanted to introduce some new poses. She said she really enjoyed the variety, and trying things she had never seen before. I just hope she's feeling okay a day later!
What I continue to stress with her is that if I move into a pose that is not comfortable for her, she can modify it or drop into the Rock. She sees the wisdom in that idea.
I did tell her that since I have completed the first half of my training hours, I will now accept payment for me services--my suggested donation for the second half of my training hours is $0 to $10.00.
She was fine with this.
